Will the Real You Please Stand Up!
The essential question is: Who are you? Before you begin rattling off your educational background or your professional accomplishments, stop for a moment and answer my question. Who are you really? What passions lie deep within your soul? What makes you unique and compelling?
You may not recognize or believe yet that you possess the seeds of greatness. The fact is we all do. The objective is to determine where this greatness lies within your body, mind and soul and then, once discovered, to dedicate your talents in a way that contributes to society.
To lend further clarity to the question, consider this classic formula:
Who: Who are you and what makes you unique and compelling?
What: What do you really want? I suggest that the only true objective is the attainment of your inner happiness achieved through the process of making a positive contribution to others.
Where: Where are you in the process of finding your ideal career calling? Are you unemployed, working but unfulfilled, working and somewhat content, wanting to start your own business or somewhere else altogether?
When: When do you want to make a change? Is the timing right for you and are you fully committed in spirit, mind and body? Remember, there is a difference between being interested in success and fully committed to its attainment.
Why: Why do you want to find your calling? This is the most important question you can ask yourself! If you do not have a compelling reason and emotional investment in changing your current path and re-inventing yourself, you will most likely never live the life you deserve and find the career you are uniquely qualified to contribute.
How: How will you achieve the goal to find your calling? I am of the belief that 80% of your career success consists of your belief in wanting the calling, while only 20% involves the mechanics of actually launching.
Onward!
